Terms and Conditions

1. About Us

These terms apply to all vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and repair work carried out by F&S Auto Mechanics Limited (“we”, “our”, or “us”).

By booking or authorising work with us, you agree to these terms.

2. Estimates and Quotes

Any estimate or quote we provide is based on the information available at the time.

Final costs may change if:

  • Additional faults are discovered

  • Further parts or labour are required

  • The vehicle condition differs from what was initially described

We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before carrying out additional work.

3. Diagnostics and Fault Finding

Some vehicle faults are complex and may require extended diagnostics.

Diagnostic charges apply even if:

  • The fault is not immediately identified

  • You choose not to proceed with the repair

  • Further investigation is required

We do not guarantee that a single diagnostic session will identify all faults.

4. Customer Authorisation

We will seek your approval before carrying out work beyond the agreed estimate where possible.

If we cannot reach you and further work is necessary to ensure safety or prevent damage, we reserve the right to proceed where reasonable.

5. Parts

We may use:

  • Genuine parts

  • OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts

  • High-quality aftermarket parts

Parts availability and supplier delays are outside our control.

Where requested, customers may supply their own parts. In such cases:

  • We do not guarantee the suitability or performance of supplied parts

  • Warranty may be limited or excluded

  • Additional labour may apply

6. Payment

Payment is due on completion and before vehicle release unless agreed otherwise.

We reserve the right to:

  • Request a deposit for certain work

  • Retain the vehicle until payment is made

  • Charge interest or recovery costs for late payment

7. Storage and Uncollected Vehicles

Vehicles must be collected promptly after notification.

We reserve the right to charge reasonable storage fees if a vehicle is left without agreement.

If a vehicle remains uncollected, we may take steps permitted under UK law to recover costs.

8. Customer Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about your vehicle

  • Inform us of known faults

  • Ensure the vehicle is safe and legal to transport

  • Remove personal belongings before work

We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal items left in the vehicle.

9. Road Testing

We may carry out road testing where necessary to:

  • Diagnose faults

  • Verify repairs

  • Ensure safety

10. Liability

We will carry out work with reasonable care and skill in accordance with UK consumer law.

We are not responsible for:

  • Pre-existing faults

  • Normal wear and tear

  • Consequential or indirect losses

  • Issues caused by failure to maintain the vehicle

Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights.

11. Health and Safety

We reserve the right to refuse or stop work where:

  • A vehicle is unsafe

  • The customer behaves in an abusive or threatening manner

  • Health and safety is at risk

12. Changes to Work Scope

Additional work may be required to complete repairs safely.

Where possible, we will:

  • Inform you

  • Explain the options

  • Provide revised costs

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
